"You Can Teacher Your Tot was born out of both my professional and parental experiences. Professionally, I hold a Bachelors Degree in Early Childhood Education (ECE), am certified in Montessori Education at the Pre Primary Level (3 - 5 year old) and have worked in the ECE Field for approximately 20 years. 

 

Professionally, the majority of my career was spent as a Daycare Director, where I had the daily pleasure of nurturing children AND their parents, through developing effective educational programming and providing various supportive services.  And personally, my experiences have come through the opportunities I have had to teach my own children. 

 

After nearly 15 years, I resigned as a Daycare Director in September 2022 to have a double mastectomy as part of next treatment for breast cancer.  At home as I recovered, I began teaching my then 18 month old son, thinking I could start early after having successfully taught my daughter to read by the time she entered kindergarten. 

 

Using Montessori-inspired methods, along with applying my professional child development knowledge, I effectively taught my son shapes, colors, numbers through 1000, all the letter names and sounds and how to read short words—by the age of 2! My teaching style at home was relaxed but practical, and my methods are what I am happy to now share with other parents and caregivers!"
